Verdict on Article 370 – Mehbooba Mufti put under House Arrest

Introduction

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) claimed that party president Mehbooba Mufti has been put under illegal detention at her house in the outskirts of Srinagar ahead of the Supreme Court’s crucial verdict on the validity of Article 370’s abrogation in Jammu and Kashmir.

PDP posted, “Even before Supreme Court judgment is pronounced, Police has sealed the doors of the residence of PDP President @MehboobaMufti and put her under illegal house arrest.”

Justice Kaul’s recommendation to Centre

  • Justice SK Kaul today recommended the setting up of truth and reconciliation of commission in J&K. 
  • The senior justice asked the Centre to set up the Commission soon. 
  • He stated that the Commission will have to look into acts of violation by both state and non-state actors since the 1980s. 
  • “This truth and reconciliation should be on the lines of the one set up in South Africa,” Justice Kaul further noted.
